Hoeveel regen valt er nu eigenlijk op je gras? En wat doe je als je dit 'vanuit een droge positie' wilt weten?

 

 

 ... wel, dan bouw je zelf een pluviometer.

Of beter uitgedrukt: dan zoek je op Tinternet, en leg je de stukken samen tot iets dat voor je werkt :-)

 

De traditionele manier

 Maar dat is niet wat we willen ... we willen zelf droog blijven, hé ;-)

We bouwen dus iets dat de regenval kan meten, en doorgeven naar een Smart Home omgeving .. wat dan dit oplevert: het resultaat in één screenshot ... de regenval van de laatste week:

De IoT manier

1. Tinternet doorzoeken naar iets om mee te starten .. ik vond deze link het meest interessant
   
   
2. Wat je dus nodig hebt (kost samen zo'n 30 Eur):
   
1.  het mechanisch deel
2. het electronisch deel
   
   
3. Wat ik anders gedaan heb:
1. ik heb de reedswitch uit het mechanisch deel gewoon verwijderd,
2. ik heb de Aqara sensor gedemonteerd (dus printplaat overgehouden),
   
3. Dan eerst de sensor gepaired met mijn IoT omgeving,
   
4. De printplaat met behulp van piepschuim gemonteerd in de ruimte van de mechanische behuizing waar de oorspronkelijke reedswitch zat, zodat ik meteen de reedswitch van de aqara sensor kon gebruiken (was een beetje klungelen tot ik een goede positie vond)
5. ... waardoor ik dus niets moest solderen :-)
   
   
4. Het kalibreren heeft ook nog wat tijd gekost ... ik kwam aan 0,36363 mm (= dus ook liter) regen per m2 voor elke kanteling van de 'emmer' ... of dus voor elke flank van de output van de sensor
   
   
5. Verwerken en visualiseren van de output van de sensor
1. in het artikel dat ik voor een flink stuk heb gevolgd, wordt Home Assistant gebruikt voor de verwerking en de visualisatie van de pluviometer,
   
2. ik heb de sensor-verwerking en de visualisatie wat anders aangepakt
1. ikzelf gebruik (nog) geen Home Assistant, maar ik heb wel een Loxone domotica installatie, waarin ik zoveel mogelijk visualiseer (met als motto zo weinig mogelijk apps gebruiken ;-)
   
2. voor de verwerking van de sensor gebruik ik mijn IoT (Smart Home) setup: Zigbee2MQTT, Mosquitto MQTT en Node-Red (die draaien op één Raspberry Pi 3, met een Zigbee USB stick gemonteerd )
3. voor Node-Red bestaan er "nodes" om vlot zowel met MQTT als Loxone te kunnen "praten" ... waardoor ik uiteindelijk aan een visualisatie zoals in bovenstaande screenshot kom (na toch het nodige "trial and error" werk)
   
   
6.  Nog te ervaren: hoe lang de meter blijft functioneren, met de kleine batterij van de Aqara sensor ... fingers crossed :-)

Tot onze verrassing kosten de tickets ginds slechts 9 Eur/persoon.

"Verrassing" .... want in een Kinepolis-vestiging betaal je voor diezelfde film ietsje meer dan 13 Eur (dat is 40% meer ????). 

Bestaat er naast Big Tech ook zoiets als Big Cinema?

Deze avond vrij laat (21u) nog gaan joggen in Nieuwpoort.

Een eerste verwondering: een vos gezien in de Simliduinen.

En dan, wat later, op de prachtige Paul Orbanpromenade richting staketsel, ter hoogte van de "uitkijkpost over de Yzer" : 6 zeehonden, die nog wat lagen na te genieten van het laatste beetje zon (of lieten ze zich de verwondering van de aanwezige toeristen welgevallen? ... de sloebers).

... meer moet dat niet zijn om een mens te laten glimlachen :-)
