Wie kent nog CP/M?

De laatste tijd ben ik terug begonnen met een oude hobby van me: microcontrollers.
Sinds enkele jaren maakt  het open source platform "Arduino" furore: je kan op een vrij simpele (en goedkope!) manier kennis maken met digitale electronica en het programmeren ervan.

Nu kwam ik enkele dagen geleden terecht op deze pagina: intussen is zo'n eenvoudig Arduino bordje in staat om een computer-besturingssysteem van intussen bijna 40 jaar geleden na te bootsen (te emuleren, zoals dat heet).  Het gaat over CP/M .... wat zijn origine heeft in 1976, maar uiteindelijk compleet uit de markt verdrongen werd door MS-DOS.
Toen IBM in de aanloop van de introductie van de eerste Personal Computer (de eerste pc is geboren in 1981) aan Bill Gates (Microsoft) vroeg om een besturingssysteem voor de IBM-PC te voorzien, ging Microsoft aankloppen bij Digital Research, de maker van CP/M. Ze kwamen niet tot een overeenkomst; Microsoft ontwikkelde dan MS/DOS ... en de rest is geschiedenis!

Pure nostalgie .... ik heb nog microcomputers gehad die draaiden op CP/M.
Ik heb zelfs ooit nog een cursus gemaakt en gegeven over dit Operating System voor de Ieperse hobbycomputerclub !

Wat ik eigenlijk al heel lang wil weten: waarom passen de stokbroden eigenlijk niet in hun verpakking?
... zijn de stokbroden te lang? Of is de papieren hoes te kort?

Want helemaal hygienisch is dit toch niet?
